The Royal Regiment of Scotland

A SCOTS Life

In 2025, The Museum of the Royal Regiment of Scotland partnered with Beeslack High School in Penicuik for a six week project to create a series of interviews with serving soldiers from the Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS).

As part of the project, learners had the opportunity to develop their social, communication, and investigative skills, while learning more about the role of Scottish infantry soldiers today.

Learners took part in workshops which explored the history of The SCOTS as well as practical skills around working in a museum, and what it takes to carry out a good interview. They put this into practice at the end of the project with two days filming on-site at Glencorse Barracks, home of 2 SCOTS.

Six soldiers from 2 SCOTS and BKA COY volunteered to be put into the ‘hot seat’ and answer questions put to them by our group of learners.
