Find out more about the history of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards through the eyes of Primary 6 learners from Leuchars Primary School.
Leuchars is the home of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and many children who attend Leuchars Primary School have family serving with the Regiment or other close links to the British armed forces.
In 2024, Primary 6 learners from Leuchars Primary School worked with The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum (based in Edinburgh Castle) and Animation Jam to create a film telling the Regiment’s story.
Throughout the project they explored museum objects with the Curator to learn about the history of the Regiment, and then began working together to practice their storytelling and animation skills.
The end result was an animated film that they researched, illustrated, narrated, and filmed with Animation Jam.
You can watch the finished film below. It is also shown in the Museum at Edinburgh Castle where approximately 800,000 visitors will see it!
